Dolby came to Day 1 of the 2012 NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) show with a whole lot of news and a booth that highlighted it all!
We’re showing off enhancements to Dolby Digital Plus, our technology that enables cinematic Dolby surround sound for all your devices at home or on the go. To bring that message home we have a device bar in our booth with cell phones, tablets and PC where you can experience an on-off demo that leave little doubt that this technology give you the renowned Dolby cinema experience wherever you enjoy your entertainment.
We’ve got really big news when it comes to 3D!!!! We announced technology for glasses-free…strike that..the BEST glasses free 3D for any device - TVs, cell phones, tablets…you name it! We’ve had a packed house demonstrating it with Philips.

You might have seen some of our YouTube or Vimeo videos for Dolby’s Professional Reference Monitor you will know that is the most accurate monitor out there for creating any type of entertainment content. This NAB we have new features that we announced including support for content shot at a rate of 48 frames per second (fps) and an optimized calibration service called Display Calibration Services.
We are showing off both 48 fps and high dynamic range in a film produced by Dolby and ARRI® . The film which highlights the detailed capabilities of the capture and display components of filmmaking was shot using an ARRI Alexa digital camera was worked on by Rob Legato, the Academy Award®-winning visual effects supervisor who served as the director, director of photography, and colorist for the film.
That’s enough to fill a morning, but in the afternoon we participated in a session in the Pro Audio Pit. Our own Mike Babbitt represented Dolby at a session on Mike Babbitt participated in a Pro Audio Pit session on Monday afternoon (4/16) on the topic of Encoding Multiple Audio Streams. He spent a few moments detailing Dolby’s work at the GRAMMY’s (see our Flickr album on this year’s show where you will also spot Mike and check out some of our posts too).

Dolby will be speaking at other Pro Audi Pit sessions throughout the show, so if you are in attendance go check them out!
Well that’s it for today’s wrap up, for more photos of our booth, etc. check out our Flickr album, we’ll keep updating it throughout the show.

Andi Fisher just might be slightly addicted to social media. By day she runs Dolby Laboratories social media program, by night she is a travel and food blogger who also happens to love film. When not in a cinema seeing a new release she is watching a movie every night on either her 5.1 or 7.1 home theater system.
A little post I did for work:
